The Global Waaqeffannaa Assembly is deeply saddened by the news of the killing of six Waaqeffannaa members while they were worshipping.
Waaqeffannaa Assembly in Oromia reported on their press release that members of Waaqeffannaa Assembly at Soddo Dachi in Oromia, at their worshiping center Malka Finchaha, were arrested by government security personnel from Aqaqi District and then brutally killed on June 8, 2025 at 2pm local time. They were killed at specific place called Mogoro. As usual, no mainstream media and human right organisations in Ethiopia reported on this.
The victims names:
1. Gurmessa Teshome Hunde
2. Hundessa Nannessa
3. Dagaga Jidha Bati
4. Lammessa Maru Gojoli
5. Bashada Adi Midhaksa

In addition, we received news that Waaqeffanna Prayer center in East Hararge burned down by some locals while local security personnel were watching.
Waaqeffanna Global Assembly strongly condemn the inhumane killing and destroying of the worshipping center.
We have experienced a repeated attack on Waaqeffannaa in Ethiopia for the last years.
We call upon:
1. All religious organisations to strongly condemn this barbaric act.
2. Oromo Community to condemn this act and call for justice for the victims.
3. The Ethiopian government to bring the perpetrators to justice and protect Waaqeffannaa members and property.

We pray for the victims, families and friends who felt this act of horror.
