May the almighty avenge the unavenged. May the almighty end our national ordeals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Irreecha is an Oromo Thanksgiving festival which is celebrated twice a year; Irreecha Malkaa and Irreecha Tulluu.<\/p>\n<p>Millions of people, Oromo Abba Gada\u2019s, and tourists from different countries have attended the event.<\/p>\n<h1>Peaceful memorial<\/h1>\n<p>This year Oromo hold peaceful memorial at Irreecha festival.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-235\" src=\"http:\/\/www.irreechaa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Mormii.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.irreechaa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Mormii.jpg 720w, http:\/\/www.irreechaa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Mormii-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.irreechaa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Mormii-100x75.jpg 100w\" alt=\"Mormii\" width=\"720\" height=\"540\" \/>Despite the rainy skies, they came; once there, the crowds\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.opride.com\/2017\/09\/30\/oromia-gears-irreecha-2017-reports-photos-analysis-commentary\/\">chanted anti-government slogans<\/a>\u00a0with the now-familiar crossed arms symbol of protest against Ethiopian authorities they say have long persecuted them \u2013 and who, in 2016, opened fire as the scene at Bishoftu deteriorated into chaos.<\/p>\n<p>The Ethiopian Human Rights Commission denied the military used lethal force in an official report on unrest in Oromia released in April.<\/p>\n<p>The EHRC said 669 people had died in ethnic clashes overall, including 465 Oromo civilians, while blaming the Oromo Media Network (OMN), other diaspora sources, and Oromo political opposition groups for escalating the crisis while defending all national security measures as appropriate.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/africatimes.com\/2017\/04\/19\/ethiopia-report-on-protest-deaths-blames-oromo-opposition-media-outlets\/\">report results were questioned<\/a>\u00a0by international governments and human rights organizations who say they are consistently denied the access needed for an independent investigation.
